Clean Car

Sunday was such a lazy day. Guess what time I finally woke up and got out of bed?
It was 2:08 pm when I finally realized I needed to do something besides sleep, wake up, go back to sleep, watch some show on the lap top, fall asleep again...that was pretty much my Sunday. Granted I have had a cold for a few days now and I felt awful that morning so I wanted nothing more then to sleep all day.

But then my little sister sends me a text and she is bored. So I decide that is motivation enough to get up and get something done that day. David went to his cousin Bryan's house and brought achilles with him so he could meet Bryan's cat....(achilles does not like cats)...dun dun dun.

Anyway so while he was doing that, I went to my parents house and picked up Anya and we decided to get some lunch...it was like 3:00 in the afternoon but whatever I had not eaten at all that day. So we went to Noodles & Company. I love their pasta..specifically their pesto with shrimp yummmmmy!!!

After lunch I decided my car really needed a wash. So we went to the carwash together. That was fun because it's always kind of scary in there and Anya and I have funny "scared" faces.

Haha, after all that I have a nice, shiny, clean car that glistens in the sunlight :)

So it was a lazy Sunday but I got my car washed. I also stayed for dinner that night since my dad was planning on making us all dinner. It was tastey :) My dad even learned the proper way to cook rice...haha. Another story for another time ;)

Georgetown

So it has been a while since I have seen my VCU girls (as I like to call them) or friends from college. Technically I have known them since high school but since we all ended up going to VCU...you catch my drift? Okay, so my friend Maedeh decided since her birthday was coming up end of this month she wanted us all to get together. So she planned a dinner in Georgetown at this sushi place called Mate Lounge for Saturday night. I had never been there but I saw the menu and it sounded delicious :)

I personally had my own little adventure on my way over to said Lounge. I took the metro to Foggy Bottom metro station and was planning on meeting Maedeh at the station so we could walk together to the dinner spot and not worry about getting lost. When I arrived at Foggy Bottom I called Maedeh to let her know I arrived and she told me that she and Crystal were on M Street and they were going to head over to the Lounge in a little bit and I should meet up with them at the Starbucks on M Street. I looked on the map (but I should probably mention that I was not sure where Georgetown was on the map) and I looked for M Street and I eventually found it but I was looking at the opposite side of DC...Maedeh and Crystal were on the west side of DC and I was looking at the east side. *face palm*

So I ended up walking 3/4 of a mile out of my way in the wrong direction before I realized that I was most certainly not going the right way. So I called Maedeh...figured out where I went wrong and followed the navi on my phone to the Lounge. The boots I wore..not meant for walking great distances so my feet hurt after a while. And then it got colder and the wind started picking up and it was dark. Did I mention that I have also had a bad cold for the past couple days? So I bundled up my coat, changed my boots to my flats, and pretty much got my butt moving to Maedeh's dinner.

I eventually got there and I wasn't even late. I arrived at 7:32 and the reservation was for 7:30 so I was really pleased. I must have looked so cold when I arrived since my face was pink but I was so happy to finally be there and to see all my girls :) Lesson learned: Georgetown is on the west side and when in doubt just head over to the original meeting spot...haha. That's a typical Lauren adventure for you!!!

The food was so good. Sushi doesn't fill me up unless I have a lot of it and I only had 10 rolls of sushi but I also had it with champagne :) I got a popular sushi roll called fresco and it was perfect. They brought out all our orders on one plate and we just dove in.

After dinner we ordered the dessert roll and that was delicious too. It was a sushi wrap but it had fruit topping and fruity syrup drizzled on top and inside the sushi wrap was sherbert ice cream..yumm. Since it was Maedeh's birthday of course we had a candle for her...and we sung "happy birthday" to her (Maedeh hates it when people sing her 'happy birthday' haha).

As you can see the mood lighting in there was really intimate and dark but it was so nice in there. I would definitely go back sometime :)

It was wonderful to see all my ladies again and I hope we do this more often :)

Another CAPS Win!!

Tuesday night we went to the Caps vs. Bruins game and what a fantastic game that was :)

Not only did the Caps win but Perrault got his first career hat trick, it was awesome! The game was intense too because it was a constant back and fourth with the scoring so it never felt boring or one sided.

Snowshoe Weekend!

This weekend was all about Snowshoe!!!

I was off Friday and had time to go to Sports Authority to get some knee pads (since I messed up my knee last snowboarding trip) and a stomp pad for David. This is the picture of it.

5 hour drive from Northern Virginia to West Virginia, over a lot of winding roads, through some deer infested woods and along the edges of some pretty steep mountains. Sounds like fun, eh? It is when you have an awesome driver and AWD to back you up :) That was a scary drive though...Diana, Sunny, Erik and Dorsa all left early Friday morning so they missed the snowfall and the ice that accumulated on the winding roads through the mountains. David and I left at 4 pm but we also hit traffic so that delayed us a bit.

At one point during the trip we were following the navigation in David's CTS when it seemed like we were driving in the middle of nowhere. There was the road but there was nothing around it so it was a little sketchy (especially at night and there are just woods and woods all around so you can't see anything). I had to get a pic of it.

We finally arrived but ended up driving right past the village we were staying in because I was expecting it to be on the right...not the left (because it was on the left when we passed it) so we drove about 10 mins out of our way and realized we should probably turn back.

Oh did I mention we brought our dog Achilles along with us? He was stuck in the back the whole way there but he kept trying to come up front to be with us since we were pretty much ignoring him since we were more concerned about not dying while driving those snowy, icy roads up to west virginia. Poor little guy. But we made it safe and sound! Yaaaaay!

We played apples to apples that first night...that was a lot of fun :)
The next morning was the first day of snowboarding and it was foggy...like horror movie foggy where you can only see about 10 feet in front of you so you have no idea what's ahead of you or behind you. It was really spooky but we made really good use of that day despite the weather. Go figure at about 4:30 (when the ski resort closes) the sun came out and the fog started clearing so we were all pretty miffed at that.

But everyone had a good time. David and I stayed on the green slopes. There were a lot of people there so at times it seemed like the slopes were crowded but then there were times when there was no one else around and that's when it was fun because you could go as fast as you wanted and not worry about traffic ahead.

Afterwards when Snowshoe slopes closed we went down to Silver Creek to continue boarding. It was already dark and it seemed even colder then Snowshoe and way more icy. There was this one flat bend that I got stuck on for about 5 minutes because it was so flat it was hard to get moving on it. So I did a lot of jumping up and down to get my board in motion..that was tiring but eventually got to the end of it. David and I were both tired after that second run so we went inside and found Dorsa. She was apparently very hungry and bored (I do not blame her) and all of us had concluded we wanted to go back home and be warm, eat and be happy :)

That night we had what I like to call "Honey Pig" at home. It was so good!!!!! Gilbert and Eunyoung brought all the food and did the preping and cooking...it was amazing :) I am droooling just thinking about it. Literally we all just kind of shut our mouths and ate it was so good and we were all starving!

Haha and then we played....catch phrase!!! I will admit I was actually very tired before we started this game. I was feeling achy and happy/full from all the food and I just wanted to curl up in bed. But once we started playing it was the best times we ever had all together :) Lots of laughing and being silly. What made it so much more awesome was Eunyoung who speaks english as a second language so there were some words and phrases that she wasn't entirely sure about and she would mix up certain words so half the time we were confused and the rest of the time we were just laughing and having fun...And then there's a big..ummm....and errrrrrrr...Valet Stripper.....and David Leno/Jay Letterman.....and Yup!! You had to be there it was awesome!!!

The next day was the second day of boarding..we all woke up and Sunny made us breakfast, eggs and sausage. I made a egg and sausage cheese sandwich. Yummm. It was still foggy but not as much as it was the day before. I was so sore that day I wish I had more time to sleep but David and I were leaving that night so he could go to work on Monday so we had to get in as much boarding as possible. It was much colder outside that day but not as icy. On the slopes there were certain areas that were more icy then others...the edges are all powder since those parts are barely touched by skiiers. We took a long ride down one of the greens. It took a while...David didn't like how icy it was but we eventually made it down.

David decided to join Dorsa at the Starbucks after that run and i decided to try a blue since I had not done one in so long....it was so much fun...it was scary but still worth it :)

We went back shortly after that to the house and Dorsa made us all lasagna...like too much lasagna but it was delicious and it made me happy!! Dinner and a pizza I do say!

Before dinner the Ravens played the Patriots in the play offs and David wanted the Ravens to win so he was really excited about it. But the Ravens didn't win and we were all sad but the dinner and a pizza was the best!!!!

David shows his dislike of the Raven's loss.

But then he remembered Dinner and a Pizza :)

Then we had to drive home. So we packed up the car and headed out around 7:40 pm. That was a long drive home. Both David and I were tired and achy and at first 5 hours didn't seem so bad but then 10 pm rolled around and it started raining a little bit and it was just awful. David drove the whole way (what a sweetheart) even though I offered to drive...but he didn't see the point since it was only and hour and half more until we were home. We did make it safe and sound a little after midnight and we both crashed into bed. It was a long weekend but so much fun :) I am so glad we did it!!! Yaaaaay!!!

Taco Monday

Mondays can be a very blah day of the week...farthest from the weekend and always a lot to catch up on and to do. So I decided to make something for dinner since I am trying to cook more..baby steps haha :)

I had to go the store to get the stuffs to make it like the salsa, whole wheat tortillas (trying to be healthy), red and green peppers, ground beef, cheese, chives and taco seasoning. David really likes corn and he wanted me to make some with corn but since I don't like corn I forgot to buy some...oops sorry sweetie!

But they were really good tacos and the left overs will be delicious too :)

The Marathon continued and we watched all of A New Hope and we finished Empire Strikes Back...so on to Return of the Jedi yeah!!!!!

Another Marathon...Stores!!!

So David and I decided not to go snowboarding this weekend and have a Star Wars marathon...yeah I said Star Wars!!! David just bought the six film collection, fully mastered, extended addition, and 40 hours worth of bonus features of Star Wars....Epic :)

Whew so far we have finished episodes 1 through 3...and I stayed up until 3:30 am to do it. Who does that?? Hahaha

Oh right, what's with the word "stores" in the title? That's one of those "Lauren Creations" where I combined "Star" and "Wars" and it became "Stores". So there you go. Not so hard.

The Marathon continues...
Until that time here are some pictures of Achilles and my love :)

I was bored at work this past week and started playing with my food and made this.

I'm such a dork but I don't even care!!!! :)

Trip to Whitetail

So we took our first snowboarding trip to Wisp the day after Christmas but we didn't get any pictures from that day. The weather has not been very cooperative for snow-making and at that time the only ski resort open was Wisp. The weather was decent, it was cold but it was tolerable. The snow was pretty icy, like snow cone ice. It was David's first time ever trying out snowboarding and for it being his first time he did really well. He was able to get his balance long enough to start skidding down the slopes. That is faster progress then most. Most beginners spend the first day just trying to get up from a sitting down position to a standing up position. David was further along in learning by mid-day. Good job sweetie!

We found out Friday afternoon that we were all going to Whitetail on Saturday. David really wanted to buy a board before hand so that same night we went to Ski Chalet and bought a board for David. Kinda expensive but he got some awesome gear! He got a Ray Gun snowboard which is sick!

Moving on to Whitetail. The weather was finally cold enough for snow-making and Whitetail finally opened this Saturday. The ironic part is that the whole day was warm as hell. The only time it was cool was in the shade or when we were ripping down the mountain because the wind was whipping by your face.

It was me, David, Sunny, Diana, Erik and Anya. Dorsa could not go because of her shoulder and I missed her lots! Also this time around, it was Anya's first time snowboarding so she and David took the free beginners lesson and after that first hour they met up with the rest of us to try out what they learned from the lesson. Anya impressed me the most for how well she did her first day. David was awesome this time around. He was ripping down the mountain like he had snowboarded his whole life :) It was such a great day of boarding!! Check out these pics below.

The drive home was nice but we were all so exhausted. The sunset was beautiful though!

It was a good day. Really looking forward to our trip to Snowshoe next week!!!! :)

David says he is like me...we both sleep a lot :) It's kinda true!

2012

Hey bloggy people!

I know I always write my posts a little late but I have been kinda busy so excuse my rudeness to the blogger gods.

So it's 2012 today and I must say the past year was a great one :) A lot of things happened, good and bad and I can honestly say I have learned a lot and for once I actually feel good looking back on year 2011. Probably because I feel I learned the most about myself and learned to accept that not everything goes according to plan. But I'm still here and I have my wonderful family, my lovely friends and an amazing boyfriend so I have nothing to complain about :)

This New Year's my roomie Lejia and Hyo invited us to the Gaylord Hotel at the National Harbor in DC for the New Year's party that they host every year. I have never gone out to a party for new year's so I was excited about this! I bought a dress just for the occasion and it was so much fun!! My good friend Tasya and her friend Hannah came along as well so that was even more awesome!

We danced into the night until my feet were screaming at me haha! But it was so great ringing in the New Year with awesome friends :)

When we left the National Harbor it was after 2 am and everyone wanted the same thing...Honey Pig!!!!

So we went to Honey Pig and stuffed our faces and it was goooooood :) We are so doing this again next year...Hotel, Dance, Drink, Honey Pig!!! Not necessarily in that order because it's New Year's and we do what we want, yeah!!!
